Fall Season – the 4 Smoky Mountain Seasons Favorite

4 smoky mountain seasonsFall is one of the most beautiful seasons of the year in the Great Smoky Mountains. In late September or early October, leaves begin to change to brilliant shades of yellow, gold, red, and orange. Therefore, it’s a wonderful time to drive through the National Park to view mountain vistas and capture pictures.  You can choose from sunrises, sunsets, fall foliage, wildlife, mountain streams, historic buildings, beautiful meadows and majestic mountain ranges.

This is a highly popular season to visit the Smoky Mountains because of the way Autumn paints our already beautiful area. Leaves change to brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow around mid-October.  This causes the Smokies to appear as if it were a rare painting by a famous artist. Popular activities during Fall include scenic drives, family fun parks, fishing, hiking, and zip lining.  More about Fall

Springtime in the Smokies
Spring brings somewhat warmer temperatures; you will probably need a light jacket for mornings and evenings. With the opening of Dollywood in late March each year, thousands of people gather in Pigeon Forge to once again experience a fun day at this famous theme park. Most noteworthy, this is a great season to take a hike in the national park or go fishing  in a mountain stream. Especially relevant are the many outdoor activities and attractions to enjoy, including the annual Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage.  More about Spring

LeConte, there might be as much as two feet or more of snow.  There may be 15″ of snow at Newfound Gap.  Park roads will probably close temporarily due to weather conditions such as ice and snow.

Winterfest, an annual event, kicks off the second week in November in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville. This special event continues through February 28 of the following year.  Especially relevant are all the activities offered during this period of time.  More about Winter
