One of the most popular seasons to visit our area is in the Fall because of the way Autumn paints our already beautiful area. Leaves start to change colors around mid-October causing the mountains to appear as if it were a rare painting by a famous artist. Popular activities during this time of the year include scenic drives, family fun parks, fishing, hiking, and ziplining. Outdoor adventure is unlimited!
Explore the Back Roads
Autumn provides a great opportunity to explore the back roads. Some of the best sights are off the beaten path. You will discover several scenic driving trails where you can enjoy the season from the comfort of your vehicle.
During the season, you can enjoy a number of festivals and other seasonal special events and activities. There are arts and crafts festivals galore throughout all of the towns surrounding the Smokies. Dollywood has a special Fall Harvest Festival. The Island at Pigeon Forge flaunts tons of beautiful decor such as pumpkin displays which feature corn stalks, scarecrows, and other interesting objects. Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies always has a beautiful display of seasonal decor as does The Village in downtown Gatlinburg. Sevierville businesses flaunt the season with lots of decor throughout the city.
