Smoky Mountains – Towns
Especially relevant is that area cities offer lots of opportunities to enjoy the Smoky Mountains. Nearly everywhere you go throughout the cities of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, Townsend, and Wears Valley, you will have a view of the mountains.
In Gatlinburg, many shops, restaurants, museums, and attractions line both sides of the Parkway. You will also have access to driving trails and hiking trails. Most shops in downtown Gatlinburg remain open until midnight, so you can save that activity for anytime during the day.
Pigeon Forge has lots of attractions, tons of places to shop (including outstanding outlet malls), more than 200 restaurants, museums, dinner theaters, world-famous theme parks, and amusements.
While in Sevierville, you will discover more museums, unique shopping venues, Historic Downtown Sevierville, an elaborate new convention center. In addition, you will find a statute of Dolly Parton on the courthouse lawn.
Townsend is a very laid back area of the Smokies. Therefore, you will discover a more relaxed environment. Yet, there are a few museums, antique stores, art galleries, and mountain adventure. There is even a biking trail in addition to river tubing. Rather than getting into all the hustle and bustle, you might choose this valley for your vacation.
Wears Valley sits between Pigeon Forge and Townsend. This unique valley offers lovely scenery, antique stores, outfitters, and unique stores.
What to Do & Where to Stay
Nature trails and hiking trails provide the best way to truly take in nature’s offerings with lush forest areas, many wildflowers, rivers and streams, roughly hewn and narrow bridges, and wildlife. You can also experience mountain areas on driving trails located throughout Great Smoky Mountains National Park. These trails are less strenuous if you happen to be short on time or have physical limitations. Maybe you could find time to take in some horseback riding or zip lining. As a result, you can burn up some of that excess energy. Also, there are many outdoor activities, almost too many to count. Maybe you would like to sit by a river and read a book or simply relax.
Especially great are the many accommodations available for your getaway. While some prefer a cabin, another might choose a hotel room. Either choice will provide you with comfort and convenience. Furthermore, maybe you want something more simple like a campground. While on your honeymoon, you can stay in a luxury condo or hotel suite. Most of all, you will definitely find something to suit your needs.
